I have finally finished the course Introduction to Music Production by Berklee College of Music at Coursera.org.
I was actually tough, but fun at the same time. For those who have enjoyed the assignments I did as infographics, I will be releasing the rest soon.

SYNOPSIS
Graphic Design (GD) is a growing profession in Lebanon, and this is clear in the growing number of GD graduates every year and the increasing dependence on visual branding and other design services.
Still, the cultural and financial appreciation of GD does not seem to pace beyond aesthetics and quick delivery. Many would blame this on Clients who prioritize budget over process; but, another key reason is behind-the-scene communication and business processes that many GD professionals struggle with.
Within this scope and in the context of the first Beirut Design Week, the idea of the GD Survey emerged to capture and register the GD profession’s status in Lebanon. Whether GD professionals are business owners, employees or freelancers; it is important for designers to exchange business process information and have the mutual benefit by better understanding where they stand on the scale.
This first GD Survey does not claim to make a comprehensive assessment, but it is a start toward this objective. Outcomes will help the GD community better understand their clients’ culture and financial appreciation of creative work.
The survey’s final outcomes will be published and shared with the design community for free. All survey takers will stay anonymous.

S&K Properties is a new company founded by another parent company in the contractors field (CCC).
The logo needed to merge between the classical – imposed by the presence of the traditional company – and the modern, reflecting the nature of it’s products.
On one side, it wanted to convey confidence and luxury,
and on the other side it wanted to reveal the urban and contemporary properties of their buildings with the latest technologies used.
Rosewood Gardens is a residential building in Beirut. The layout and graphic elements in the brochure are inspired by the lines of the building itself in an attempt to give a slightly unoriginal grid that complements the architectural design.
After designing the DISCURSIVE FORMATIONS logo, and especially for the TINAG festival event,
a new “social” DISCURSIVE FORMATIONS business card was needed:
The two benches I have designed-on and executed in Hamra street:
One is at the corner near Jack & Jones (Modca corner) and the other is facing Fransabank on the right side of the street.
The first bench tries to capture the spirit of Hamra, the energy & hype, the lights, the crowd, the restaurants and pubs during the day and at night.
While the second bench is a typographical interpretation of a quotation from Steve Jobs.
The quote says:
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something” ~ Steve Jobs, Stanford Commencement Address, 2005
Once you read the quote and walk past it, you can look back at the bench and connect the black dots to read something else…
I knew I wanted to design the bench with a typographical approach using an inspirational quotation, but I couldn’t come up with anything yet that day. I woke up that morning with the sad news that Steve Jobs passed away, so it came to my mind to use one of his inspiring quotes. I thought it would also pay tribute to him that way too. It is a really interesting that even by passing away, he inspired me to do this design.

As part of Hamra Street Festival Maraya 2011 follow up events, I will be designing / painting on 2 of the concrete benches recently placed. One will be at the corner in front of Jack & Jones and the other will be near Fransabank.
Two other selected artists – Dalia Baassiri and Nisreen Mohtar – will be there too to work on 2 other benches each.
Painting of the benches that were placed on Hamra Str. during Maraya 2011 will take place on Tuesday & Wednesday October 4th & 5th, 2011 and is sponsored by Blom bank, Credit Bank & Fransabank.

Innocent, harmful, playful, obedient?
Imaginative, harsh, fragile, or feelingless?
What happens when children become soldiers? Or at least be intertwined in a cause so much that they become manipulated in a game, and the game is their lives?
Wrong? right?
A cause?
What about effect?
This piece was made with multiple-layered cardboard and illustrating a contrast between two children placed in different contexts.
Choices made by elders become fate for their children.
